General Education & Baccalaureate Degree Requirements
General Education (GE) is the University’s curriculum that serves every undergraduate student at the U. It consists of the GE Core and Breadth Area requirements articulated by Utah Code R470 and administered by the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) and the Baccalaureate Degree (BD) requirements developed by the U. This curriculum is centrally managed by the Office of General Education and the General Education Curriculum Committee (GECC).
Information about each requirement area, curricular guidelines, and details on how to apply for a GE or BD designation can be found on the GE website. For questions, please contact Robyn Moreno or Lindsay Massman.
Minor changes to GE and BD-designated courses, such as adjustments to the course title or catalog description, are handled through the Curriculum Office. Changes involving course content or learning outcomes require review by the General Education Curriculum Committee (GECC). Contact the Office of General Education for more information Robyn Moreno or Lindsay Massman.
If you wish to remove a GE or BD designation from a course, contact the Office of General Education Robyn Moreno or Lindsay Massman.
